Joining the Elmira & District Rod & Gun ClubThe club is currently open to new members. To join, you need to attend at least two meetings. At the first meeting, introduce yourself to the club executive, and ask for the membership chair. He can provide a membership application, which you should fill out and return to him at that meeting. You should have your PAL/POL number and other information. Your application will be announced to the club members present. For the second meeting, you will need to bring a police records check. Go to your local police department and request this. This is a fee charged by the police. Bring the records check to your second meeting. Inform the club membership chair that your are there for your second meeting. You will be asked for the police check form, and in the course of the meeting, club members will then be able to vote on your application. If successful, you will given back your police check. You can then pay your dues at that time. Currently club dues are $165/year plus a $75 initiation fee. A family membership is available, which consists of a reduced rate for your spouse if you are both members. Family membership does not apply to any children. You must take a range safety & orientation course before you can use our ranges. The range safety officer will set this up for you. Be sure to ask. Joining the Canagagigue Shooting Association (Pistol Club)To join the pistol club you must first be a member in good standing of the Rod & Gun. Fill out a membership application for the pistol club and request the range safety course from our club range safety officer. These courses are only scheduled as needed. Once you have passed the range safety course, club members will then vote on your application at the next meeting. Pistol club meetings are held when requested after the Rod & Gun meetings. To transport restricted firearms, you will need a federal ATT (authorization to transport) for target shooting. If you are a aid up members who has passed the safety courses, and do not have an ATT from any other club, then the Canagagigue Shooting Association secretary will apply for your ATT. |
